Calculation of the Genan energy surcharge

Since 2022, Genan has been charging an energy surcharge per tonne of ELT delivered to each of our five European tyre recycling plants – as part of the gate fee. This energy surcharge was introduced in response to the suddenly skyrocketing energy prices which we – and many other companies round the world – started facing in 2021.

On quarterly basis, the surcharge introduced is adjusted in our supply agreements as a variable energy surcharge – and calculated as an average based on the spot prices of energy registered during the previous quarter.
